Senior boys of Government Higher Secondary School, ​Sankhali​ kick-started their campaign of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS) National Football Championship finals with a 2-1 victory over Kolkata’s Kapasdanga Vidyapith at the Cooperage ground on Sunday. Their goalkeeper, Roanal Gaunkar was awarded the player of the match.
It was Kapasdanga Vidyapith who scored the first goal of the match, courtesy of a Arun Rajbanshi goal in the 15th minute. They maintained the lead until the 69th minute before Kunal Salgaonkar and Vishnu Gosavi fought back for the Goan side with a goal each.
Rosary HSS continued their fine form in the championship as they handed Dakshin Guwahati Junior College a 18-0 drubbing.
Akshata Patel from Rosary HSS scored a double hat-trick in the first half of the game to cement their authority in the game. The Goan team continued to attack the opposition in the second half with a brace from Jeromina Colaco scoring a hat-trick as well.
Marlat Cardozo, who has been having a splendid tournament so far, also got into the act as she score a hat-trick as well. Rosary HSS played out a beautiful high tempo game and continue to to stay at the top of the group stages.
In the third game of the day, Our Lady Of Perpetual Succour High School went down 2-0 against Chowbagha High School. Bijoy Das and Surya Sarkar scored in the first half of the game to secure the win. All the matches at the tournament are being streamed live on RFYS website www.rfyouthsports.com
