Government Higher Secondary School, Sanguem rallied from behind to defeat Miracles High School, Sanguem 2-1 to enter the semi-finals of Sanguem Taluka Under 17 Subroto Mukherjee inter school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Uguem Rising Club grounds, on Saturday.
Government Higher Secondary School were trailing 0-1 at half time. Government Higher Seondary dominated the game right from the start. However, it was Miracles High School, Sanguem who broke the deadlock in the opening sesssion when Joy Fernandes' well executed free kick eluded both the human wall and goalkeeper Glen Fernandes.
Down by 0-1, Government Higher Secondary pressed more men upfront and had scoring chances but Anil Wardar spurned two sitters.
Post resumption, Government Higher Secondary School were more dominant in the second half as Anil Wardar who atonned his earlier two misses neutralised the lead. With time running out, Government Higher Secondary went all out and Anil Wardar gently tapped the ball in off Wardan Gaonkar's pass to troop out worthy winners.
