Guardian Angel Sports Club came from behind to defeat Navelim Sporting Club 2-1 and book a place in the quarterfinals of the UCV Cup 2026, organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers at the Church Ground, Chinchinim.
Both teams began the match on an attacking note. Navelim Sporting took the lead in the seventh minute when Travis produced a neat finish to make it 1-0.
Guardian Angel responded positively, enjoying more possession and creating chances. Their efforts paid off in the 24th minute when Milroy headed home from a cross by Sergio Dias to level the scores. Five minutes later, Norman Dias found the net to put Guardian Angels ahead 2-1 before the interval.
Navelim Sporting pressed hard for an equaliser in the second half, but Guardian Angel goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues produced a string of outstanding saves to preserve his side's lead and seal a 2-1 victory.
Oswin Rodrigues of Guardian Angel SC was adjudged Player of the Match. The award was presented by Prestly Pereira.

St Anthony SC thrash Cortalim Gymkhana to reach Festival Cup quarterfinals
MARGAO: Hosts St Anthony Sports Club stormed into the quarterfinals of the 18th St Anthony Festival Cup 2026 with a commanding 5-1 victory over Cortalim Gymkhana at the Moll Ground, Kumsai, Assolda, on Thursday.
Cortalim Gymkhana made a bright start, taking the lead in the fifth minute when Stanley D'Silva headed home. However, their advantage was short-lived as Vitorinho Fernandes equalised with a powerful strike in the 12th minute. Samuel Peixoto then put the hosts ahead in the 20th minute, giving St Anthony a 2-1 lead at half-time.
St Anthony dominated the second half, with Vitorinho Fernandes completing his hat-trick through goals in the 36th and 44th minutes. Frazer Gomes added the fifth goal in the 50th minute to seal an emphatic 5-1 victory.
Hat-trick hero Vitorinho Fernandes was named Player of the Match. The award was presented by Francisco Fernandes.

Footballer Dylan Carvalho laid to rest in Ambaulim
MARGAO: Footballer Dylan Carvalho, a midfielder of United Boys of Ambaulim, was laid to rest on Thursday following an emotional funeral service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ambaulim.
Family members, friends, footballers and members of the local community gathered to pay their last respects to Carvalho. Members of United Boys of Ambaulim accorded him a guard of honour, while the club's flag was draped over his casket as a mark of respect. Club officials and players carried the casket from his residence to the church for the funeral service.
The funeral Mass was led by Fr Carlisto Coelho, Rector and Parish Priest, while Fr Danzil delivered the homily. During the service, the priests recalled Carvalho's generous nature and his willingness to help friends and fellow footballers. Carvalho was later laid to rest at the Ambaulim cemetery.
