Dicarpale Sports Club triumphed 2-0 over St Anthony’s Football Club Assolda to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the 18th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, organised by Guirdolim Club and held at the Chandor Church Sports Complex.
The match began with both teams struggling to gain a foothold, as play was largely confined to the midfield. Dicarpale had the first chance in the 15th minute, but their shot on goal was comfortably saved by Assolda goalkeeper Presley. Moments later, Assolda responded with a counter-attack, but Victorino's shot from the edge of the 18-yard box went wide. The first half ended goalless, with neither team able to break the deadlock.
Dicarpale came out with renewed energy after the break. In the 38th minute, Kavin Furtado received a perfectly timed, defence-splitting pass from Milton Colaco and calmly slotted the ball past a diving Presley to give Dicarpale the lead. Assolda tried to find a way back into the game, but their strikers were off target. In the 47th minute, Welson of Assolda came close to equalising with a powerful shot that rattled the Dicarpale crossbar and went out of play.
Dicarpale sealed the win in the 52nd minute when Milton Colaco, who had been instrumental in controlling midfield, found space and unleashed a powerful strike that found the back of the net, extending the lead to 2-0. Despite late pressure from Assolda, Dicarpale held firm to secure the victory.
Milton Colaco was named Player of the Match for his commanding performance in midfield, with the award presented by Custodio Fernandes, Executive Committee member of the Goa Football Association.
