Sports Authority of Goa coach Hemant Angle has become the first Goan to complete the International Cricket Council (ICC) Level 2 Coaching course, held at the ‘Centre for Excellence’ in Dubai.
Attended by 24 trainees from all over the world which included Prosper Utseya, international cricketer from Zimbabwe, and host of
Ranji Trophy players from India. The four-day course, which ended on August 5, also included players from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UAE.
The faculty included Ashley Ross, the Australian who was New Zealand team’s coach, UAE coach Doughie Brown from England, Ziyad Parker, Peter Kelly from South Africa. Teachings included all aspects of the game - biomechanics, skill acquisition, planning apart from the technical knowledge.
Practicals and theory went hand in hand everyday and that will be followed by six-month assessment programme after which the certificates would be awarded.
