The much anticipated regatta of the year ‘75 Knots Masters Regatta’ began at Cidade de Goa, Dona Paula amidst much fun fare and burst of colourful sails. Rough seas and gusty wind conditions made it challenging and tested the skills of the sailors and particularly the windsurfers.
Practice races started at 3 pm that gave the sailors an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the swell and the wind conditions. By the time the first race started at 4 pm, skies were overcast and
winds dropped to manageable levels.
In the seabird category, GYA’s Cesar Menezes had a great start. But the boat Nemo with Umaji Chowghule, Homi Motiwala, Hemant Arondekar and Sevi Singh finished first with Kitty Wake II close on hill with Nilay Patil, Anahita, Chatianya and Medha on the boat. Cmde. Mongia, Sanjeev, Anja and Kenneth finished third on boat Redshank.
In the windsurfing category, Derrick finished first, Remmy finished second while Gopal Amin finished third. In the grandmasters category, Col. Deepak Dikhit took the gun and Capt. Patro finished second.
Day 2 promises lots of excitement and fun. Races
