Holy Cross Institute, Quepem and Guardian Angel HS, Curchorem romped into the quarter-finals of the Late Ramnath D Volvotkar U-17 invitational inter-school football tournament organised by Insight, the Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs and Charity, in association with DSYA, Damodar English HS and Damodar HSS, Gudi-Paroda at Gudi ground on Tuesday.
Holy Cross Institute, Quepem prevailed over Bethany Convent School, Sao Jose de Areal 4-1 by a margin via tie-breaker after goalless ninety minutes. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Milton Fernandes, Airen Fernandes, Stephen Fernandes and Kevin Rebello scored for Holy Cross Institute while only Shendroy Costa found the mark for Bethany. In another match, Guardian Angel HS scored a facile 3-0 win over Rosary High School, Navelim. Guardian Angel School were leading 2-0 at the breather through goals from Abdul Rehman and Francisco Fernandes. Leander Thomas who sealed the issue for Guardian Angel HS by scoring the third goal was later declared as player of the match.
