IM Nitish Belurkar of Goa was crowned the champion at Satish Anna All India Open Rapid Chess Tournament held at Belagavi, Karnataka.
Nitish remained undefeated, scoring 8.5 points out of 9 with 8 wins and 1 draw. Among others, Nitish defeated FM Ritviz Parab of Goa, CM Karthik Sai Ch of Hyderabad and drew with IM Sammed Shete of Kolhapur.
Sailesh R of Chennai won the second place with 8 points. FM Ritviz Parab of Goa was placed third with 7.5 points while other Goan players, Mandar Lad and Rishikesh Parab were placed 9th and 18th with 7 points and 6.5 points respectively.
In the age group category, Goan players who garnered prizes were
Asmita Ray (1st prize, U14), Mayuresh Desai (3rd prize U14), Shourya Pednekar (4th prize, U16), Shresth Ghonsekar (5th prize, U8) and Arthav Shirodker (10th prize, U10).
