Fatima Convent TT champs
MARGAO: Fatima Convent High School, Margao made short work of Mahila Nutan High School, Margao 3-0 to emerge champs in the Salcete Taluka U-17 girls inter-school Table Tennis tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at SAG Multipurpose Hall, Fatorda.
In the first singles, Deanne Pacheco defeated Gayatri Naik Gaonkar 11-1, 11-4, 11-7. Ravisha Kudchadkar beat Rucha Kare 11-2, 11-5, 11-2 to give a comfortable 2-0 lead to Fatima Convent. Later, Rahi Kakodkar took the the third game easily with a 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 win over Hrutvika
Hinjalkar. The third place was bagged by Manovikas High School, Margao.

GAA trails on July 24
PANAJI: The Goa Athletic Association (GAA) will conduct selection trials for Federation Cup Junior Championships to be held in Hyderabad from Aug 7-9 for U-20 boys and girls and also for inter District Athletic Junior Championship to be held in Vizag from Sept 5-7. U-14/16 boys and girls should report to Asst. Director of coaching Vrunda Vernekar and coach Patrick Soares at Athletic track, Bambolim on July 24 from 9.30 a.m onwards. Athletes registered with GAA are eligible for the trials. Meanwhile, GAA will conduct its AGM on August 8, 2015 at conference hall, Miramar residency at 4pm.
Candolim Veterans win final
PANAJI: Candolim Veterans won the Late Mathew Braganza Veterans Cup football tournament with a 2-0 win over Mapusa Veterans. Shankar Palyekar scored both goals. He first converted a corner-kick off Patrick Gonsalves and then struck home a pass from Francis Fernandes (Dhondu).
