Inter collegiate women's football: St Xavier’s, Rosary College in finals

St Xavier's College, Mapusa will clash with Rosary College, Navelim in the finals of the Inter Collegiate Football Championship for women organised by Goa University at University ground, Taleigao Plateau.

The first semifinal was a well-contested affair as St Xavier's College, Mapusa beat Don Bosco College, Panaji 2-0. In the first half, St Xavier’s College scored through Sujata Naik in the 27th minute as the goalkeeper fumbled with her collection. St Xavier's scored one more in the 87th minute through Ishank Marorekar to book their place in the finals.

In the second semifinal, defending champions Rosary College, Navelim routed Carmel College, Nuvem 9-1. Rosary College scored three goals in the first half. Rizella Almeida scored the first in the 3rd minute, Jossela Mascarenhas netted in the 16th minute, and Aniela Barreto made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute. Carmel also managed to score a goal, which came through Jessney Fernandes.

In the second half, Rosary College scored another six goals to complete a dominant win. Rizella Almeida netted in the 48th minute, Hani Costa scored in the 50th minute before Aniela Barreto found the net in the 61st minute. Rizella completed her hat-trick in the 67th minute while Aniela also scored her third goal in the 68th minute. Carmel College conceded an own goal in the 70th minute to suffer a humbling loss.

The finals will be played on Thursday, November 3, at 3 pm at the Goa University ground.
