Inter-media cricket: AIR-DD, Tarun Bharat, Goan Varta reach semis

AIR-DD, Tarun Bharat and Goan Varta entered in semifinals while Prudent made it to the quarterfinals of Inter-media season ball cricket tournament organised by Sports Journalists Association of Goa in association with Goa Cricket Association and Sports Authority of Goa at GCA ground, Porvorim.

In the quarterfinals, AIR-DD defeated Electronic Media by 9 wickets. Electronic Media made 29 in 5.5 overs as Naresh claimed 4 wkts for 9 runs. AIR-DD knocked off the runs in 3.1 overs. Shyamrao top-scored with 13 for AIR-DD.

Earlier in first match, AIR-DD defeated Goan Varta Live (GVL) by 5 runs. Playing first, AIR-DD set GVL a target of 64 in 8 overs. Kedar (28) and Ashok (10) were the main scorers. GVL managed to score 60 in reply with Chitra top-scoring with 22.

In another match, Prudent thrashed Gomantak by 10 wickets. Gomantak posted 65 in 8 overs with Kubal contributing 43. Prudent pair of Sachin Surlikar (43) and Siddesh (10) then went on a rampage to easily overhaul the target in 3.1 overs.

In the fifth match, Goan Varta defeated Navhind Publications by 9 wickets to enter the quarterfinals. Navhind scored 53/6 in 7 overs; Nirghosh (15) and Kishore Kamat (10) doing bulk of the scoring. Goan Varta then strolled to the target, posting 54/1 in 5.4 overs as opener Gangaram Sawant (20) and Durgesh Naik (17) milked the Navhind bowlers.

Earlier in the morning, secretary of Goa Cricket Association Vipul Phadake inaugurated the tournament.
