While in the women’s category finals, Sandhya Adhangale (West Zone) overpowered Jyotsna Hazarika (East Zone) 21-15, 24-22.

The AAI All-India Inter Zonal Badminton Tournament, organized by Airports Authority of India (AAI) concluded on Friday afternoon at the Indoor Badminton Court, Chicalim Sports Complex, Airport Road, Chicalim here.
In the Individual Championship, Jacob Mathew (South Zone) emerged victorious in the men’s category finals. In a well-contested encounter against Nehra (Corporate HG, Delhi) Jacob won comfortably with a score of 21-19, 21-15. While in the women’s category finals, Sandhya Adhangale (West Zone) overpowered Jyotsna Hazarika (East Zone) 21-15, 24-22.
In the Team’s Event, in men’s, South Zone prevailed over North Zone 3-1. In the opening singles clash, Jacob (North Zone) put it across Ranbir Singh (South Zone) 21-12, 21-15.
In the next singles match, Sanjeev Chabra restored parity for North Zone by winning against Rajesh KR (SZ) 21-15, 21-11. In the third tie, a doubles match, Jacob and Anbu (SZ) won quite convincingly against Pankaj Agarwal and Anand (NZ) 21-11, 21-13 to put their team ahead at 2-1. Sealing the issue in the next rubber for South Zone Men was Anbu who warded off the challenge put by Deepak Dabbas (NZ) at 21-16, 21-17.
While in the Women’s Team event, the West Zone women defeated their counterparts from South Zone 2-0. In the first singles, Sandhya Adhangale (West Zone) defeated Aabha Janani (South Zone) 21-12, 21-10. In the second engagement, Nalini B partnering Sandhya (WZ) overpowered Deepthi and Aabha 21-15, 21-14.
The prize distribution and valedictory function was held later in the evening at Ravindra Bhavan, Baina, Vasco.
