The 17-year-old from Mapusa won the events in 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley, quite easily without pushing himself too hard. "It was a good event, organised very well. However, I did not find enough competition here to put in a lot of effort," Jerry told The Goan.
Jerry trains at the Peddem sports complex under Goa Swimming Association coach Surajit Ganguly and is happy about his progress under the Bengali coach. "I am training two-and-half hours in the morning, three in the evening with gym sessions from 3-4.30 pm except on Monday, which is an off-day. I complete in a day around 10-12kms. I have been under coach Ganguly since last three months and my speed, strength and stamina have gone up," revealed Jerry, as he trained the guns on the upcoming School National Games.
"Right now my focus is on School Nationals, but yes I will be training hard for next year's National Games," said Jerry, whose personal best in his pet events 50m and 100m freestyle is 24.4sec and 54.8sec respectively.
