A hat-trick from Joywin Carneiro powered Curtorim Gymkhana into the final of the 15th Fatima Cup, organised by Dicarpale Sports Club, as they defeated St Anthony SC Assolda 3-0 in the first semifinal at Dicarpale ground on Monday.
Curtorim took the lead in the 20th minute when Casvino Fernandes delivered a cross into the box, which Joywin Carneiro headed home.
Assolda came close to reducing the deficit when Fhezer Gomes was played through by Imson Fernandes, but his effort was punched away for a corner by Curtorim goalkeeper Jhonson Bogot.
Curtorim doubled their advantage when Carneiro capitalised on a defensive error to make it 2-0.
As the game progressed, Nickson Castanah released Jovial Martins with a through pass. Martins found Carneiro, who controlled the ball, raced forward and fired home from inside the box to complete his hat-trick and seal Curtorim’s place in the final.
Carneiro was adjudged Player of the Match and received the award from former South Goa Collector Venancio Furtado.
