A four-goal blitz by Pearl Fernandes secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Karnataka for Goa in the Junior Girls National Football Championship Tier 2 Group Stage match at Umaid Stadium, Rajasthan on Sunday.
Goa recorded their second consecutive win in the championship. Jonathan Faleiro's girls got into the groove, wasting no time as they displayed their sharpness moving forward. Pearl and Fatima Braganza worked in tandem to put the rival defence in disarray.
Pearl, the fulcrum of Goa's attack, broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, beating the Karnataka goalkeeper hands down. The second half entirely belonged to Goa as their opponents struggled to catch Goa's rampaging, brisk pace.
Pearl struck the second time in the 46th minute. Karnataka were subdued and failed to function as a cohesive unit. Pearl scored her hat-trick in the 73rd minute before adding the fourth goal in the 83rd minute, 4-0.
