Tuff Laxmi Prasad Sports Club trounced Curtorim Gymkhana 3-0 in the Goa Professional League, round 14 match at Duler Stadium, on Sunday. At half time, Laxmi Prasad led 2-0. Laxmi Prasad scored through Francis Onyeama (35th minute), Dalesh Pednekar (44th) and Ndubuisi Opara (60th).
Nine minutes after the kick-off, Girish Naik shot the ball straight into the hands of Muhamad Shaikh, the keeper of Curtorim Gymkhana. In the 22nd minute, Francis Onyeama hit a hard shot which went just inches over the Curtorim crossbar. Two minutes later, Ndubuisi Opara had an open scoring chance which he misjudged and saw the ball rolling past the goalpost.
In the 28th minute Opara received a cross from Girish Naik and headed towards the goal but the Curtorim keeper rushed forward and cleared the ball. A minute later, Curtorim’s Hanslum Furtado missed a brilliant scoring opportunity when a long shot taken by him sailed two inches above the rival crossbar.
At the half hour mark, Laxmi Prasad made a switch and replaced Terence De’Mello with Agnelo Colaco. In the 35th minute, Laxmi Prasad took the lead when Francis Onyeama headed home the ball off a corner kick taken by Girsh Naik. Nine minutes later, Dalesh Pednekar inflated the lead when he sent the ball into the lower right-hand corner of the Curtorim goal.
Crossing over, Curtorim Gymkhana made their first substitution by replacing Sagar Salaunke with Mariano Rebello. In the 52nd minute Laxmi Prasad’s Dalesh Pednekar was yellow-carded by referee Prasad Surlakar for a foul on Xavier Dias. At the one hour mark, Ndubuisi Opara scored a beautiful goal to make the tally 3-0.
In the 83rd minute, Laxmi Prasad’s Francis Onyeama was injured and had to be replaced by Hari Parab. Three minutes later, Opara scooped the ball and dodged the defenders but shot the final ball wide. Curtorim Gymkhana dished out some attacking football but failed to score.
