MARGAO: Young swimmers from Macasana delivered an impressive performance at the 37th Goa State Sub-Junior and Junior Aquatic Championship 2026, held from July 16 to 18 at the Ponda Swimming Pool Complex.
Leading the charge was Nigel Mark Raposo (Group I Boys) of Rosary College of Arts and Science, who bagged three gold medals in the 4x100m freestyle relay, 4x100m medley relay and 4x200m freestyle relay. He also claimed silver medals in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, as well as the 200m individual medley, besides a bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Nathan Rafael Raposo (Group I-B Boys) of Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim, also excelled, winning gold in the 200m breaststroke, 4x100m medley relay and 4x200m freestyle relay. He added silver medals in the 200m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 50m breaststroke and 4x100m freestyle relay, along with a bronze in the 200m freestyle.
In Group III Boys, Lancio Luke D'Costa of Our Lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim, secured a silver medal in the 4x50m freestyle relay.
Among the girls, Kenisha D'Costa (Group IV) of Presentation Convent High School, Margao, won silver medals in the 4x50m medley relay and 4x50m freestyle relay, while Nyla Valanka Raposo (Group IV) of St. Francis Xavier High School, Macasana, earned silver in the 4x50m medley relay.
All the medal winners train under Margao RCC swimming coach Inacio "Netty" Raposo.
