Madhya Pradesh took a commanding first-innings lead of 157 runs over hosts Goa at the end of the second day of the Cooch Behar Under-19 Trophy Elite quarterfinal match being played at the Goa Cricket Association ground in Sanguem.
In reply to Goa's first-innings total of 164 all out, Madhya Pradesh were 321 for 7 in 94 overs when stumps were drawn on Day Two.
Resuming from their overnight score of 12 for 1, Goa had reduced Madhya Pradesh to a precarious 42 for 5, raising hopes of taking the lead. However, skipper Manal Chauhan (95 and wicketkeeper Sparsh Dhakar (139) shared a massive 207-run partnership for the sixth wicket, which helped their team surge ahead and wrest control of the match. This partnership allowed Madhya Pradesh to escape trouble and seize the advantage. For Goa, Samarth Rane was the standout bowler, picking up 4 wickets for 63 runs with an impressive spell.
