The Margao Cricket Academy (MCA) began their Tour of Sri Lanka on a high, registering a DLS-method win against Royal Rangers of Colombo in a rain-affected match held at the scenic and historic DBU Ground, Radella Estates.
Batting first, MCA posted a competitive total of 111 all out in 20 overs, thanks to a fine half-century by Adoksh Raj Manavi, who top-scored with 54 runs. His vital partnership with skipper Showmik Pai Angle (19) helped stabilise the innings after early wickets. Darshan Karekar also chipped in with a valuable 19.
Royal Rangers’ Sanjeeva Padiege was the standout bowler, picking up 4 wickets for just 14 runs, troubling MCA's middle order.
In reply, Royal Rangers suffered an early collapse, with Deepesh Shetkar making an immediate impact by taking two early wickets (2/14). While Herlic Rohan offered some resistance with a gritty 35, the rest of the batting order faltered under sustained pressure from the MCA bowling unit.
As the Rangers reached 84/6 in 18.4 overs, rain interrupted play. Despite waiting for conditions to improve, the umpires eventually called off the match. MCA were declared winners based on the Duckworth“Lewis“Stern (DLS) method.
For his match-winning knock, Adoksh Raj Manavi was named Man of the Match.
