Mexican Boys top group, move into KOs

Mexican Boys whipped Black Arrows 6-1 to top Group G and join Black and White into the knock-out stages of the M7 FC’s Spartacus “ King of the week futsal tournament, played at Don Bosco Oratory indoor stadium, Panaji on Thursday.

After a thrilling six-goal draw against Black and White in the first match, Mexican Boys needed just a point to make it through in the last group encounter against Black Arrows. Mexican Boys showed their intent from the word go and scored at regular intervals. Kirt and Sammy scored a brace each for the winners while R Fernandes and Sunil were the other goal scorers for the winners. Rohan pulled a goal back for Black Arrows.  
Maccabi Mumbai “ the only outstation team in the tournament “ excelled on the court as they beat strong contenders Catalonians 3-1 in their first match and later thumped YBR 5 Souls 5-2 in their second match. Maccabi Mumbai and Catalonians completed the final slots from Group H for the round of 16 clashes.  
In the round of sixteen clashes, Maccabi Mumbai will clash with Black and White, Ritu Boys vs Highlanders, La Masia vs 5 Tomatoes, Black Limon vs Varca Warriors, Boom Boom Dempo vs M7 Football Club, Lazy Boys vs St Anthony Taleigao, United Brothers vs Saipem SC and Mexican Boys vs Catalonians. The round of sixteen matches and quarter-finals will be played on Saturday from 6 p.m. The semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday.
