Mumbai beat Telagana by 4 wickets to emerge champs of the 12th Senior Double wicket cricket championship organized by Goa Double Wicket Cricket Association in collaboration with All India Double Wicket Cricket Federation.
Batting first, Telagana scored 96 for 4 in 8 overs. Rahul Mullick (28) top-scored. He was well supported by Kirti Basu who chipped in with 22. For Mumbai, Ketan Patil was the wrecker in chief,
scalping 2/60.
In reply, Mumbai achieved the target by scoring 97 for 6 in 7.2overs. Ketan Patil stole the limelight with both ball and bat as he anchored the innings with a knock of 31. Ramprakash Yadav contributed 29 valuable runs. Prakash Kumar was the most successful bowler, claiming 3 for 21.
The matches were played at SAG Fatorda practice ground and SAG ground, Chicalim. Telagana, Goa, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Harayana and Andhra Pradesh participated in the tournament.
Earlier in the semis, Mumbai beat Kerala while Telagana defeated hosts Goa on the way to finals. President of Babu Brothers Sports Association, Ashendra Naik was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Sushant Shirodkar, secretary of Goa Double Wicket Cricket Association and Vijendra Dahiya, Secretary of All India Double Wicket Cricket
Federation.
