Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Football was in full flow at Fr Agnel Grounds in Verna. The day’s action saw Mushtifund High School play Kendriya Vidyalaya in what turned out to be a battle of nerves and masterful goal scoring between the two sides which saw the former register a spectacular 3-2 victory in the Junior Boys Category.
The first half saw Mushtifund High School dominate their opponents right from the start as Dishauk Kunkoikar gave them the lead in only the 2nd minute of the match through a spectacular corner routine. Pratik Naik would soon double Mushtifund School’s advantage in the 14th minute with the side looking comfortable in their first match of the competition. Kendriya Vidyalaya however gave themselves some confidence as they managed to pull a goal back in the 25th minute through Anantha Krishnan. The game went into half-time with Mushtifund only a goal up with the match wide open and for the taking for both the teams.
The second half continued with the same attacking display from both the teams as Kendriya Vidyalaya brought the game back level through Anil Singh in the 34th minute. The game was closely contested with both sides trading attack after attack. The match was settled by the Mushtifund’s star man for the day, Dishauk Kunkoikar who scored in the 44th minute of the goal. To hand the advantage back to his side. Mushtifund School remained composed in the closing stages and registered a 3-2 win to progress to the next round of the tournament.
The day’s action saw a total of 8 matches being played in the Junior Boys and Senior Boys category with big wins for Regina Mundi High School, Santa Cruz High School and Vidya Vikas Academy
