Nagesh Verenkar and Shantesh Mapsekar were outstanding in the sub-junior boys category as the duo will clash in the finals of Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship being held at the Polygon Hall, Miramar.
On their way to the finals, Nagesh Verenkar defeated Ansuhman Agarwal 16-14,9- 11,11-3,11-9 and Shantesh Mapsekar defeated Shaswat Mapsekar 12-10,11-6,11-8.
In Wednesday's sub-junior girls category, Tanisi Kirtani won in straight games to defeat Sneha Rane 11-7,11-0,11-3 to progress to the finals. In the finals, Tanisi will meet Prutha Parrikar as Prutha won comfortably over Tania Patel scoring 12-10, 11-5, 11-7.
Tanisi Kirtani and Prutha Parrikar will meet in the finals to be played on June 12.
Over in the junior girl’s category, Tanisi Kirtani who has also entered this category once again breezed past her opponents to make it to the finals. Tanisi defeated Tania Patel 11-6,11- 4,11-4.
In the Ladies category the matches were fast and swift. Tanisi also playing in the ladies category made it to her third final in as many categories. On her way to the finals she defeated Shivani Ghantkar 11-3, 11-2, 11-3 in the quarter-finals and Aditi Chodankar 11-7, 11-3, 11-2 in the semi-finals.
Day four of the championship will see Junior Boys in action. Matches are scheduled between 4pm and 10pm.
