Mashem Cricket Club moved into the next round of the 44th Nanda Lolyekar Trophy leather ball cricket tournament with a commanding 184-run victory over Betalbatim SC at the Nirakar ground on Sunday.
Opting to bat first, Mashem CC posted a formidable 288 for 5 in 25 overs, powered by a blistering century from Reyan Kerkar, who smashed 111 off just 63 balls. Solid contributions from Santosh Satarkar (51), Vaishnav Pednekar (50) and Vinesh Satarkar (24) further strengthened the total.
Betalbatim’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Satish Mandrekar picking up 2 for 67, while Rajshad Shaikh and Narciv Talaulikar claimed a wicket each.
In reply, Betalbatim SC faltered against disciplined bowling and were bundled out for 104 in 24 overs. Only Kishan Tudalkar (18), Satish Mandrekar (15) and Nehal Komarpant (12*) offered brief resistance. Mashem’s attack was led by Vishal Naik with impressive figures of 3 for 11, while Santosh Satarkar took 2 for 25, and Ajinkya Desai and Rohit Kholkar chipped in with a wicket apiece.
