Grandmaster Anurag Mhamal stamped his class in the National Open Senior Chess Championship and is in joint-lead with GM Aravindh Chithambaram Vr at the end of Round 7 in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday.
Anurag is on six points at the end of Round 7 after upsetting GM Deepan Chakkravarthy J (2550) in Round 7 match. Earlier, Anurag put up a brave fight to hold Aravindh to a draw in the Round 6, thus remaining unbeaten in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Ritviz Parab drew both his round games on Wednesday to move on to 13th place with five points. He drew with International Master Akash G in Round 6 before drawing with IM Vignesh NR in the seventh round to remain unbeaten in the tournament.
Other Goans Niraj Saripalli and Fide Master Nitish Belurkar are on four points apiece.
