MARGAO: Nerul SC registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Socio Cultural Club of Loutolim to advance to the next round of the 36th St Anne's Festival Inter-Village Soccer Tournament 2026 at the Animal Husbandry Ground, Curti-Ponda.
Organised by Ponda Footballers, the tournament was inaugurated by social worker Mithil Dhavalikar in the presence of social worker Dr Kautuk Bhatikar, Custodio Dias, attorney of St Anne's Church, Ponda, veteran footballer Martin Pires, Ponda Footballers president Manoj Keni, and other dignitaries and club officials.
Nerul SC took control early in the contest, with Nikil Naik opening the scoring in the 10th minute. The lead was doubled 10 minutes later when Nehal Naik found the back of the net, giving Nerul a comfortable cushion heading into the second half.
Rohan Kalungatkar sealed the result in the 46th minute with Nerul's third goal, putting the outcome beyond doubt as Loutolim struggled to mount a comeback.
Nikil Naik was named Man of the Match for his influential performance and received the award from chief guest Mithil Dhavalikar in the presence of Ponda Footballers president Manoj Keni.
