MARGAO: St Rock's Youth Club, Calata, Majorda, organised a traditional water polo match on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15, with North Goa Giants edging South Goa Giants 4-3 in a tie-breaker after the match ended 4-4 at full time.
The closely contested encounter saw both teams battling hard for supremacy, but neither could find a winner during regulation time. North Goa Giants eventually held their nerve in the tie-breaker to secure victory.
The celebrations also featured a swimming race for village children below eight years of age, providing an opportunity for the young swimmers to showcase their talent.
A fishing competition, open to villagers, was another attraction of the Independence Day programme. A large crowd gathered at Majorda to witness the various activities organised by St Rocks Youth Club.
