Portais Sporting Club thumped Pilerne Sports Club 5-1 in a GFA Under-18 clash at St Cruz ground on Sunday. For Portais, Umesh Lamani (10’ and 70’) and Fraser Fernandes (17’ and 22’) netted a brace each while their team-mate, Santan Rodrigues (63’) also entered is name on the scoresheet. For the team from Pilerne, only Luis Fernandes could find the back of the net with a 64th-minute strike. Portais’ Raunak Chodankar was the lone player cautioned in the 61st minute of the match. In another match, Sesa Football Academy got a walkover against Ronit Sports Club at the Agassaim ground.
Meanwhile, Betalbatim Sporting Club overcome Salgaocar FC 1-0 at Betalbatim Sports Complex. The all important goal was scored by London Singh which brought an end to the undefeated streak of the Greens.
The first half of the game began with the Greens trying to get in an early lead via their striker Liston Colaco, who despite getting past the Betalbatim defence was unable to make a dent in the rival goal. Flagan Rodrigues and Stephen Alvares were solid for the Greens in defence as London made a threatening attempt on goal. However, the striker would have his say for the day as he took advantage of a confused Salgaocar box as he made a gentle tap-in to score the sole goal of the game. The game didn’t have much to show for the fans as the Betalbatim outfit walked away victorious with 1-0 win over the Greens.
