Power Smashers claimed the title of Vasco Badminton League 2021, conducted by Chicalim Badminton Club (CBC) in association with Goa Badminton Association (GBA).
The two-day tournament saw players from six teams -- Power Smashers, Team Predators, Goan Rebels, Amigos Shuttlers, Goan Spartans and Flying Gravity -- battle it out for the coveted trophy. Power Smashers beat Team Predators in the final 120-106.
At one point of time, Team Predators had a five-point lead over Power Smashers, but the mixed doubles pair of Manish Pankhania and Siya Kolwalkar turned the tables and gave Power Smashers an insurmountable 10-point lead. Thereafter, it was always a catch-up game for Team Predators.
The third-place playoff between Goan Rebels and Amigos Shuttlers was also a close contest. Goan Rebels won the tie 120-117.
Manish Pankhania was named as the Best men’s player of the tournament while Siya Kolawalkar emerged as the Best women’s player. Outstanding individual performance awards were given to Yash Desai, Disha Dutta, Arjun Chauhan and Ritika Chelluri.
