The videographers and photographers know the importance of working under lights and how bright lights add to the luster and glamour of an event. But that part of the element was sadly ignored by the ground staff of an event management company which has been associated with the National Games.
The lack of professionalism and foresight of the staff came to the fore during the prize distribution of the Beach Soccer which was held under dim lights, a fact which did not go well with the National television personnel, who first threatened not to show the prize distribution “under such poor lighting” but relented later on.
The officials led by the venue coordinator did not take into account the undue delay in holding the prize distribution which was the event management companies doing and thus they were caught on the wrong foot.
They took almost an hour to set up the stage, which included the red carpet for the podium winners and the guests.
And when the stage was set, the sun had gone behind the clouds and the artificial lights were from the nearby beach towers and no additional lights were pressed into service.
If lights on the play field for the prize distribution were a cause of action, many journalists covering the tournament were left without connectivity as the Service Provider cut the internet immediately after the prize distribution and left the venue.
Requests to the Atul Yadav Assistant Venue Manager proved futile and he said he could do nothing about it.
