Churchill Brothers and FC Goa played out a 1-1 draw in the Goa Football Association Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.
The Red Machines took the lead in the 13th minute through Afdal Varikkodan while Delton Colaco restored the parity for FC Goa in the 70th minute. Churchill Brothers scored with the first real chance and it was a set-piece goal once again as Quan Gomes’ corner was nodded in by Afdal. FC Goa pressed hard to get the leveller with Delton and Mevan missing on easy chances, hitting wide from close. Late in the first half, Mevan saw his header narrowly go over the bar.
In the second half, FC Goa went close once again when Delton sent in a cutback to Lalremruata HP in the box, but the latter shot wide. Their persistent pressing helped them finally score the leveller when a defensive lapse from the Red Machines in dealing with Mevan’s cross, allowed Delton to pounce on the ball and tap home, 1-1.
