Pune FC steamrolled a 9-man Goa Velha Sports Club 22-0 in their clash of the Bandodkar Gold Cup football tournament at Rosary Ground, Navelim on Tuesday. Pune FC led 9-0 at the break.
Pune, who drew with Churchill Brothers 1-1 in their previous match, outplayed their opponents in all departments of the game. The highlights of the match were brilliant seven goals by Mohammed Ashique Kuruniya and five goals by Lalawmpuia Opa, while substitute Balkar Singh scored a hat-trick
On the other hand, Goa Velha took the field with 10 man and reported five minutes late at the venue as they were struggling to contain the rampaging Pune forwards who swarmed all over the rival territory. Mohammed Ashhique opened the floodgates in the fifth minute when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Thereafter it was a one-way traffic for Pune who dismantled the rival rearguard with ease. Pune doubled the lead in the 15th minute when man of the match Lalwmpuia Opa beat the rival goalkeeper with a rasping shot. Eleven minutes later, Lalawmpuia Opa scored again and minutes later completed his hat-trick.
Mohammed Ashique then go into the thick of things as he struck twice in the 35th and 38th minutes to complete his hat-trick as well and in the 40th minute, he made it 7-0. Tariq Ahemad added his name on the scorers list in the 40th minute. Lalawhpuia Opa inflated the tally in the 45+5 minutes.
Crossing over, Pune continued to enjoy the total domination as the script remained the same with their forwards Lalawmpuia and Mohammed Ashique tormenting the rivals' fragile defence. Mohmamed Ashique continued his assault on the rival citadel and made it 10-0 in the 46th minute. Sebastain Thangmuansangh increased the tally in the 47th minute while Sahil Panwar added his name on the scorers list in the 51st minute.
Mohammed Ashique, who stayed in sync with his team-mates darted in for a clinical finish in the 67th minute. Three minutes later, the striker punted the ball to the far corner of the net. Substitute Balkar Singh then scored a hat-trick in the 71st, 92nd and 95th minutes.
Earlier, Goa Velha goalkeeper Devesh Adkonkar was ejected by referee Sunil Nanodkar for obstructing rival striker Lalawmpuia and the resultant spot kick taken by Lalawmpuia was saved by Kunal Kundiakar. Pune FC Goalkeeper Anuj Kumar had a off day in office as he was hardly tested by the rival attackers. Rajat Kumar, Sajid Hussain, Ashish Rai and Mohammed Yasir accounted for one goal each to decimate the tame Goa Velha side.
