Pushpanjali Banerjee appointed coach of Goa's women's senior cricket team

Formerhead coach of Jharkhand senior women’s cricket team PushpanjaliBanerjee has been appointed as the new head coach of Goa’s women’ssenior and U-23 cricket team for the upcoming domestic season 2026-27which will begin in the month of October.

Overthe years, Banerjee has worked extensively with women's cricket inJharkhand and has played a key role in nurturing young talent,several of whom have gone on to represent Jharkhand at higher levelsof competition.

Wereceived many applications for the post of Goa’s women’s seniorcricket team coach. We shortlisted five of them for interview andfound Pushpanjali Banerjee to be the most suitable one. We selectedher based on her vast experience and excellent track record. I amsure Goa will perform better under her guidance during the upcomingdomestic season,” Tulsidas Shetye, Secretary, Goa CricketAssociation told The Goan.

Theappointment is being viewed as a significant recognition ofBanerjee's contribution to cricket coaching and player development.

Pushpanjalihas an excellent track record in coaching having coached variousstate teams in her nearly two-decade year old coaching career.

Theformer cricketer has been head coach of Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh,Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Chandigarh.

Earlierthis year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hadappointed Banerjee as the head coach for the Inter Centre ofExcellence (COE) U-19 Elite matches held in Bengaluru from June 1-10.

ANational Cricket Academy-accredited Level 2 coach, the formerJharkhand opener has also done Level 1 cricket coaching in Australia.

Alevel 1 umpire of BCCI, Pushpanjali has also officiated in the localcricket league in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

Goa'swomen's cricket team performance during 2025-26 domestic season washighlighted by standout individual brilliance performance by PurvajaVerlekar, whose prolific run-scoring ability earned her a place forthe India A squad that toured England in the month of June earlierthis year.

Forthe upcoming season, in senior women's T20 Trophy, Goa has beenplaced in Elite A Group along with Maharashtra, Karnataka,Chhattisgarh, Bengal, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam.

Insenior women's One Day Trophy, Goa has been placed in Elite A Groupalong with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengal, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir,Hyderabad and Tamil Nadu.

Inwomen’s U-23 T20 Trophy, Goa has been placed in Elite B Group alongwith Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Baroda and Jammu & Kashmir.

Inwomen’s U-23 One Day Trophy, Goa has been placed in Elite C Groupalong with Mumbai, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu &Kashmir.

Pushpanjali’svast experience in coaching will definitely help the Goa’s seniorand U-23 women’s cricket team to perform better during the upcomingseason.
