Parish Youth Nuvem defeated Betalbatim Sports Club 3-2 via tie-breaker to lift the 24th Lourdes Football trophy in the tournament organised by United Club of Utorda in association with SAG at Utorda ground in memory of late Miguel Azavedo.
Travis Barreto of Betalbatim SC missed an early chance to score in the 10th minute. Five minutes later, Stephen Colaco of Parish Youth Nuvem missed a chance at the other end. However, Parish Youth went ahead as they drew the first blood in the 20th minute through Stephen Colaco.
Post resumption, Betalbatim showed an improved performance and put pressure on the PY Nuvem citadel. Klusner Pereira of Betalbatim missed a sitter while Austin missed a golden chance to score from a cross from Klusner Pereira. The equaliser finally came as Austin levelled through a penalty awarded in the 60th minute. PY Nuvem edged out their rivals in the tie-breaker.
The winners and runners-up received cash prizes of Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively, besides the trophies. Nuvem MLA Mickey Pacheco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour, Fr Santo Antonio Pereira and DSYA Director V M Prabhudesai.
Individual prizes: Best disciplined team - Goa Velha SC, Best performer of the tournament - Yallapa Astekar (goalkeeper of SC Davorlim), Best player - Faizal Bepari (UC Benaulim), Up and coming player - Merlyn Gaunkar (OLGloria, Raia), Best player of semi-finals - Aniston Fernandes (Betalbatim SC) and Andon Fernandes (St Anthony, Colva), Best player of the finals -Austin Fernandes (Betalbatim SC), Best goalkeeper of finals - Joel Colaco (PY Nuvem), First scorer of finals - Stephen Colaco (PY Nuvem).
