MARGAO: Raia Sporting Club stormed into the quarterfinals of the Mount Carmel Festival Trophy with a comfortable 4-0 win over Verna Cultural Sports Association at the Government Primary School ground, Telaulim, on Sunday.
Raia Sporting dominated the match and scored twice in each half, with Achilles Fernandes and Bryce Dias both netting a brace to seal a convincing victory.
Verna CSA had several opportunities to get on the scoresheet, but forwards Joasle Fernandes, Hilton Fernandes and Macklito D’Costa failed to capitalise. Raia, meanwhile, made the most of their chances and scored at regular intervals to comfortably secure their quarterfinal berth.
Achilles Fernandes was named Player of the Match and received the award from former United Club of Telaulim goalkeeper Floriano Pires.
