Moses Mascarenhas crowned Goa’s fastest man, clocking 10.66 secs in the 100m dash

Moses Mascarenhas of Rural Coaching Centre (RCC) Fatorda emerged as the fastest man at the Padma Bhushan Dr. Manohar Parrikar Memorial 56th Goa State Athletics Championship.
An aspiring writer and a postgraduate student, Moses who had won the fastest man at the Goa University meet and represented the state at several national championships clocked 10.66secs in 100m dash to clinch the top place. He was followed by Ananthakrishnan Pillai RCC Bambolim with a timing of 10.98secs, while Suraj Bhaidkar RCC Peddem clocked 11.51secs.
In the girls section, Sakshi, Kolekar of RCC Peddem topped in the 100m dash clocking 13.09secs while Rucha, Dalvi of RCC Bambolim and Rashi Halarnakar of RCC Bambolim, came second and third.
The Overall Championship Trophy was won by RCC Peddem, while RCC Fatorda secured the Runner-Up Trophy.
The Championship was successfully organised by the Goa Athletics Association from 7th to 9th at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. The championship witnessed the participation of over 1,400 athletes across categories ranging from Under-8 to Senior, competing in a variety of track and field events over three days.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Rohan Khaute, Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, as Chief Guest, along with Subhash Phal Dessai, Minister for Social Welfare, Government of Goa, and Adv. Narendra Sawaikar, NRI Commissioner, Government of Goa & President of the Goa Athletics Association, among other dignitaries.
The meet was conducted under the guidance of Kishore Kumar Shinde, Bronze Level Technical Official of World Athletics, who served as the Technical Delegate. For fair and efficient conduct, the Time, Scoring and Result (TSR) System was deployed, ensuring precise results, while Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) equipment was utilised for shot put, javelin, and jumping events. The smooth execution of the championship was made possible with the support of over 60 qualified Technical Officials from Goa Athletics Association and 50 sports-specific volunteers from Don Bosco School of Education (B.P.Ed.).
