Real Kashmir FC beat Salgaocar FC 2-1 in a Group D Elite League Under-18 Final round match at SAG ground, Utorda on Monday.
Salgaocar dominated proceedings initially and enjoyed better ball possession. They got the first major chance to break the deadlock in the 8th minute but Chaitan Komparpant’s attempted volley was well blocked by Real Kashnir FC goalkeeper Umaid Hussain Mugloo. Three minutes later, Real Ksshmir FC had a narrow escape when Valoentino Nazareth’s snap shot hit the right post.
Crossing over, the teams exhibited attacking football and Salgaocar had a chance to break the deadlock but Arron Baretto muffed a sitter. Real Kashmir finally scored the first goal of the match in the 50th minute when Ateeb Ahmed Dar thumped a header off a rebound after Iqlak Fayaz hit the horizontal bar.
Stung by the setback, Salgaocar went on the attack but Ribhav Sardessai shot wide with only the rival goalkeeper to beat in the 58th minute. Salgaocar found the equaliser in the 72nd minute when Chaitan Komarpant punted the ball home. The visitors were stunned and turned more aggressive in their approach. They scored the winner when substitute Hayat Bashir slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 74th minute.
In Group B, Minerva Punjab FC and Shillong Lajong FC were involved in a goalless draw at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex, on Monday.
