Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports Club edged past Cuncolim Union 3-2 to enter the quarter-finals of All Goa Late Jose Benito Furtado memorial inter village football tournament, organised by Navelim Villagers Union, at Rosary ground, Navelim on Friday.

Rossman Cruz had the first chance to break the deadlock in the 4th minute when Myron Fernandes outpaced his markers but rival defender Krishna Shirodkar managed to stop him with a well-timed tackle. Cuncolim Union were quick to reply four minutes later, as Conny Fernandes -- seeing the rival goalkeeper out of his position -- lobbed the ball into the net but defender Vijal Rego effected a goal-line save, clearing the ball out.

Rossman Cruz broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Christo D’ Mello’s snap shot crashed into the net. However they suffered a setback in the 30th minute when Rosario Carvalho equalised for Cuncolim Union with a stiff grounder.

Crossing over, Cuncolim Union intensified their attacks and regained the lead when Rosario Carvalho punted the ball home. However, Rossman Cruz were quick to level the scores through a Vellinton Gama strike in the 40th minute. In the 41st minute, Frazier D’Costa struck the match winner for Rossman Cruz.
