In the inter-village football tournament organized by St Sabastian UC Benaulim at Dando Ground, Benaulim, Rossman Cruz Nagoa defeated Navelim Villagers Union 5-4 in a tiebreaker, securing a place in the quarterfinals.

The first half of the match was lacklustre, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm and create scoring opportunities. The cautious approach continued in the second half, resulting in a dull affair. However, the tiebreaker brought excitement as Rossman emerged as the triumphant team.

Damdolem book semis spot
In a match of the 1st Vicente Memorial Inter-Ward Football Tournament held at St Alex Church Ground Curtorim on Wednesday, Damdolem beat Virabhat 5-3 in the tiebreaker, securing their spot in the semifinals.

Nelson Cardozo scored the first goal for Damdolem in the 15th minute, followed by an equalizer from Josslan Fernandes of Virabhat. Despite efforts from both teams in the second half, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the tiebreaker, Damdolem won by a score of 4-2, with Milferd, Ryan, Clinson, and Nelson each contributing a goal. Virabhat's Ryce and Josslan also scored during the tiebreaker.

Trials for sub-jr girls football nationals
The Sub Junior Girls National Football Championship 2023-24 will be held at Amritsar, Punjab from September 3 to 13. The tournament is for players (girls) born on or after January 1, 2010, and not later than December 31, 2011.

The Goa Football Association has intimated that interested players must report to coaches for the trials with their complete playing kit and Birth Certificate/Identity Document for eligibility, on August 5 and 7 at Don Bosco Ground, Panaji at 3.30 pm.

GMC win inter-collegiate chess championship
Goa Medical College won the Inter-Collegiate Chess Championship (Mix) organized by Goa University at Sridora Caculo College of Commerce & Management Studies, Mapusa on Wednesday.

Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi claimed the runners-up title, while Dhempe College of Arts and Science, Miramar finished third. Anvesh Bandekar of Goa Medical College was awarded the Best Player title. GMC, Bambolim team: Maeron Pereira, Soham Naik, Vaibhav Pednekar, Anvesh Bandekar, Christley Pereira and Anish Molio.

Rosary HS girls win U-17 badminton State title
The girls' team of Rosary High School, Cujira, Bambolim emerged as the State champions of the U-17 inter-school badminton tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
