Sachin Gaude won the late Kamlakant Parab Memorial Ponda taluka open rapid chess tournament organised by Vardhambika Kala Sangh in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) at Ameya Higher Secondary School hall, Curti-Ponda.
A total of 75 players participated in the tournament. Yash Upadhye secured 2nd place ahead of Vignesh Sawant who finished in 3rd place. Swayam Bambolkar, Anish Naik, Sathvik Kerkar, Gaurav Naik, Sagar Pednekar, Sanket shamkuwar, Vaibhav Gaunekar, Anchit Naik, Sharmad Bhat, Akash Sanjeev, Netra Savaikar, Srilaxmi Kamat, Soham Phanasekar, Parth Kamat, Sadanand Kamat, Harsh kurtikar and Milind Gaude got 4th to 20th place respectively.
The certificates and trophies were distributed at the hands of chief guest Dr Ketan Bhatikar, Vinayak Gaonkar (President, Vardambika Kala Sangh), Amogh Namshiker (President, PTCA), Anand Kurtiker (Secretary, PTCA), Sagar Sakordekar (Founder President, PTCA), Sarita Parab (social worker) and Avdhut Kamat (coordinator).
