Salgaocar drub Pax of Nagoa 3-0

MARGAO

Salgaocar FC humbled Pax of Nagoa Sports Club 3-0 in the GFA's Under-18 League at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex on Friday. Salgaocar FC led 1-0 at the breather.

Goals came through Devendra Mulgaonkar in the 34th minute, Shane Rodrigues in the 69th and the evening’s final goal was scored in the 74th minute by Liston Colaco.

The Greens were off to a flying start as Rowlin got past the Pax defence in the very second minute but his shot came off the crossbar to deny the young Green. The Pax custodian was not given a chance to rest as in the 10th minute a brilliant Kaushik Negi cross accompanied by a blazing Divyansh Sudan run had him make a close range save to deny an attacking Salgaocar side.

The deadlock broken just four minutes after the clock crossed the half hour mark. Sudan sent in a ball towards Devendra, who skilfully dribbled his way past three of the Nagoa defenders to send a low ball to the far left of the keeper. As the first half ended, the Greens were separated from their opponents by a single goal.

The second half saw a charged up Pax of Nagoa go for goal as they held most of the possession while making threatening attempts on the Salgaocar goal. As the clock struck 60 minutes it looked like things would go level as Antonio D’Silva was outsmarted by the Nagoa striker but his lob went just above the horizontal.

In the 69th minute, Shane received a well-timed through ball from Jovan Dias and outsmarted the Pax custodian as he sent the ball to his right. Liston scripted the final goal as he dribbled past a defender after receiving a pass from Selvin Miranda to score.
