Salgaocar Football Club may be high on confidence after posting an emphatic 4-1 win over Sankata Club, Nepal but coach Anthony Levino Pereira has cautioned his boys against complacency as they take on bottom-placed Java Lane Sports Club, Sri Lanka on Saturday in their quarterfinals league match of 4th CEM Gold Cup 2019, organised by Karbi Anglong Sports Association at KASA Stadium, Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam.
After playing brilliantly in the tournament, being unbeaten so far, Salgaocar are favourites against Java Lane Sports Club, who are yet to record a win. The Sri Lankan club lost to Sankata Club 4-0 but Salgaocar coach Pereira is not taking his
opponents lightly.
“Although they lost to Sankata Club 4-0 and they are a good side. I know the Sri Lankan team’s coach has motivated his boys to go out and give a fight and we are wary of a strong response from them,” said Pereira.
On his team’s concerns about yellow cards, Pereira said that seven players are on yellow cards and the coach hinted that he may rest the players and is hopeful that those who come as the replacements will produce the goods. Salgaocar only need a point from Saturday’s match to qualify for the semifinals.
