Sanath stars in losing cause as Goa go down to Odisha

Goa went down to Odisha by seven wickets in the Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy Elite One-Day match at the GSFC Ground in Vadodara, Gujarat on Sunday, despite a fluent 91 from opener Sanath Nevagi.
Odisha opted to bowl after winning the toss and made early inroads, but Nevagi counter-attacked with 91 off 78 balls, hitting eight fours and five sixes. He was supported by Aman Dhooper (26), Shivendra Bhujbal (19) and Anuj Yadav (15*), as Goa were bowled out for 166 in 36.4 overs.
Syed Tufail Ahmed was the most successful Odisha bowler, finishing with 4 for 9.
Chasing 167, Odisha’s openers set up the win with a 101-run partnership. Sasanka scored 56 and captain Om Munde made 53, guiding the side to 167 for 3 in 28.5 overs. For Goa, leg-spinner Manish Kakode took 2 wickets and Dhooper claimed one.
Goa will play their next match against Assam on November 11 at the Kotambi Stadium B Ground in Vadodara.
