Sporting Clube de Goa registered a 3-1 win over Vasco SC in their eighth Goa Professional League match at Duler Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Anil Zore, Joel Colaco and Naocha Singh ensured Sporting claimed all three points.
Sporting made a strong start and went ahead in the 5th minute. Myron Fernandes sent a long pass from the flank towards striker Doyal Alves, who collided with the Vasco goalkeeper outside the box. The loose ball broke to U-21 centre-back Anil Zore, who beat two defenders and slotted into the net from the left.
Vasco equalised in the 30th minute. Captain Reuben Hetkhotinchon stepped up for a free-kick just outside the area, and his curling attempt took a deflection off the wall before dipping over the line.
Both sides created chances and won corners before the interval, but neither managed to add to the score.
Sporting returned from the break with more control in midfield and applied sustained pressure in the attacking third. Their second goal arrived in the 78th minute when Letzamang Haokip delivered a corner from the left and Joel Colaco rose to head home.
Naocha Singh sealed the result in the 90th minute. Rohan Rodrigues set him up on the right side of the box, and Singh finished confidently to give Sporting a two-goal cushion. Vasco’s frustration was evident as multiple players went into the referee’s book, including Blasco Fernandes and Sporting's Joyson Gauncar, for dissent and an altercation respectively.
The victory keeps Sporting Clube de Goa on track in their campaign. They next face Churchill Brothers SC in an away fixture at Raia on November 14.
In another fixture played at the Nagoa Ground, Pax of Nagoa defeated Guardian Angel SC 3-0 despite playing almost the entire game with 10 men.
Pax were reduced to 10 players as early as the 5th minute when Jesloy Moniz received a straight red card. However, the hosts regrouped and took the lead in the 31st minute through Ajay Raj. Beneston Barretto doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute, and Shayne Afonso added a third in the 65th to put the result beyond doubt.
Guardian Angel were unable to convert possession into clear chances, while Pax defended well to record a clean sheet and a convincing win.
