Sporting Club of Davorlim edged past Carmona Sports Club 2-1 to storm into the quarter-finals of All Goa 29th Super Soccer tournament organised by United Boys of Dando Colva at St John the Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim on Friday. Sporting Club of Davorlim led 2-0 at half time.
Sporting Club of Davorlim had a chance when Robinson Colaco picked up the ball from Selwyn Miranda and deceived a rival defender and unleashed a snap shot but it was well blocked by Edvil. At the other end, Carmona Sports Club came close in foisting the lead when Darren Estibeiro took control of the ball from Aston Vaz and outwitted a rival defender but his shot was fisted away by rival goalkeeper Selito Miranda.
Sporting Club of Davorlim broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Mark Borges beat the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish. Spurred by the lead, Sporting Club of Davorlim intensified their attacks and in the 19th minute Perryosn Rebello scored the insurance goal to give his team a 2-0 cushion.
Stung by the double blow, Carmona Sports Club intensified their attacks and had a chance to reduce the margin but Yurri Ferrao’s long ranger missed the target narrowly. Post resumption, Davorlim allowed their opponents to attack and Bryson Cardozo scored the consolation goal in the 68th minute.
