SCC Loutolim get better of CRC Chinchinim

MARGAO: SCC Loutolim edged past CRC Chinchinim 4-2 on penalties after the two sides played out a goalless draw in the third match of the 2nd Mansion House Football Cup 2026 at the Cuncolim Government School Ground on Monday.

The match began at a brisk pace, with Chinchinim taking the initiative early. Seagmond Rebello tested Loutolim goalkeeper Anik Naik in the sixth minute, but his effort lacked power and was comfortably collected. Rowan Fernandes then won a free-kick in the 15th minute, only to fire his attempt over the crossbar.

Loutolim gradually found their footing, with Elton Fernandes registering their first notable attempt in the 20th minute, though the Chinchinim defence dealt with the threat.

Chinchinim continued to look dangerous as the half progressed. Rowan Fernandes again found space in the 35th minute but shot straight at Naik, while Loutolim's Austin Fernandes missed a good opportunity two minutes later, sending his effort high over the bar.

The tempo increased after the restart. Rebello made another determined run into the box in the 46th minute, but Loutolim's defence recovered in time to snuff out the danger.

Both teams came close to breaking the deadlock in the 57th minute. Chinchinim's Vaelan D'Sa fired narrowly over the crossbar from close range before Loutolim responded on the counter. Carl Soares' powerful effort, however, crashed off the top of the bar.

With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the match went to a penalty shootout. Loutolim held their nerve, with captain Hanson Cardoza, Samson Mascarenhas, Ashwin Miranda and Alvito Fernandes all converting their spot-kicks.

Chinchinim scored through Om Raikar and Larson Rebello but could not keep pace, as Loutolim secured a 4-2 shootout victory.

Despite the defeat, Raikar was named Man of the Match for his commanding performance. He received the award from Sheriton Dias, Member of the Cuncolim Union.
