MARGAO: Shiroda Youth Club booked their place in the quarterfinals of the Rising Cup 2026 with a 2-1 win over Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, in a tournament organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, in association with Rising Cup of Sanvorcotto.
Jonathan D’Costa gave Shiroda the lead in the 18th minute, converting a pass from Kevin Dias to put his side 1-0 ahead at half-time.
Shiroda doubled their advantage in the 37th minute when Athara Ghadi found the net following a pass from D’Costa.
Don Bosco fought back in the second half and reduced the deficit in the 57th minute through Richie Vaz, who finished off a long ball delivered by Hanslaum Furtado.
Don Bosco pressed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Shiroda held firm to secure victory and progress to the last eight.
Both teams missed chances to add to the scoreline. D’Costa, Kevin Dias and Ghadi squandered opportunities for Shiroda, while Vaz and Jef Barreto missed chances for Don Bosco.
Jonathan D’Costa was named Man of the Match for scoring the opener and setting up Ghadi’s goal. Aldis Rebelo presented the award.
