Shree Balram Residential High School, Canacona, won the Under-14 Boys, Under-17 Boys and Under-17 Girls titles at the Canacona Cluster Interschool Tennikoit Championship 2026-27, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA).
In the Under-14 Boys final, Shree Balram defeated Balram A Day Care School 2-0. Amit Gaonkar beat Sartraj Gaonkar 15-6, 15-7, while Ruthvik Gaonkar defeated Tanay Gaonkar 15-5, 15-7. The Under-17 Boys team also won 2-0 in the final against Tudal High School, with Lavesh Gaonkar and Tushar Gaonkar winning their respective singles matches.
In the Under-17 Girls final, Shree Balram defeated Katyayani Baneshwar Vidyalaya 2-0. Sneha Gaonkar and Sakshi Velip won their singles matches to secure the title. All three Shree Balram teams had registered straight 2-0 victories in their earlier rounds. Their respective title wins have earned them qualification for the state-level Tennikoit Championship.
The teams comprised Amit Gaonkar, Ruthvik Gaonkar, Gautam Gaonkar, Soham Velip and Vijay Gaonkar in the Under-14 boys; Lavesh Gaonkar, Tushar Gaonkar, Vedhant Prabhu, Krunal Gaude and Ayush Velip in the Under-17 boys; and Sneha Gaonkar, Ritika Velip, Sakshi Velip, Akshara Velip and Richa Velip in the Under-17 girls. Physical education teacher Kesar Gaonkar guided the teams.
