Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona, and GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda, emerged champions in the men’s and women’s sections respectively at the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi Championship 2026-27.
The championship was held from September 7 to 10 at the SAG Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium, Peddem, Mapusa.
In the men’s final, Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College defeated Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, 56-42 to lift the title.
Canacona had earlier edged M.E.S. Vasant Joshi College of Arts & Commerce, Zuarinagar, 37-35 in the semifinal, while Assagao beat Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim, 69-32.
In the women’s final, GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Farmagudi, Ponda, defeated Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona, 64-41.
Farmagudi had secured its place in the final with a 65-37 semifinal victory over Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim. Canacona defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, 53-32 in the other semifinal.
Ashish Velip of Canacona was adjudged the Best Player in the men’s section, while Vibha Jalmi of Farmagudi received the Best Player award in the women’s section.
A total of 28 teams competed in the men’s championship, while 18 teams took part in the women’s event.
