In the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 tournament organized by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust, Sinc Rangers defeated Ultracon Madgaon Royals in a thrilling Super Over contest at the MCC Ground on Sunday.
Batting first, Sinq Rangers posted a massive total of 196 for 4 in 20 overs. Ultracon Madgaon Royals matched the total with 196 for 6 in their 20 overs, forcing the match into a Super Over.
In the Super Over, Madgaon Royals managed just 4 runs in four balls, losing Granthik Buyao and Showmik Angle in the process. In reply, Sinq Rangers chased down the target in just two balls, scoring 7 runs to seal the victory. Samrudh Bharne took three runs off the first ball, and Vismay Falgaonkar struck a boundary off the second ball to complete the win.
Earlier, Sinq Rangers openers and captain Samrudh Bharne (50 off 31 balls, 5 fours, 1 six) and Vismay Falgaonkar (50 off 39 balls, 6 fours) gave their team a solid 95-run opening stand. Batting at No. 4, Nikhil Virginkar smashed 50 off just 24 balls, hitting 8 fours and 1 six.
In reply, Ultracon Madgaon Royals got off to a brisk start, scoring 49 runs in the first six overs. Kartik Hattangadi (50 off 35 balls, 2 fours, 2 sixes) and Sanat Prabhudessai (50 off 34 balls, 6 fours) scored half-centuries. Opener and captain Damodar Pai Patnekar contributed 32 runs. Granthik Buyao’s 16 runs in the final over helped take the match into the Super Over.
Vismay Prabhugaonker received Desserts n More Player of the match award from Aditya Angle and Gurudatt Angle, and Nikhil Virginkar received Kamat Realty Hero of the match award from Aditya Angle and Gurudatt Angle.
